Dear Congress:
I believe that vacations are not only a privilege, but a right. I am among the nearly 70% of Americans (from every region of the country and every demographic group) that polling shows support a paid vacation law.
I understand that vacations increase worker productivity, decrease health risks, strengthen relationships with friends and family, and improve our overall quality of life.
I believe that the United States Congress should pass, and the President should sign, a law ensuring that all American workers get at least three weeks of paid vacation, and thus join the rest of the industrialized world in supporting the human right to leisure time without fear of losing one’s job.
I call on you to respect the wishes of your constituents by supporting paid vacation legislation that will be introduced in Congress in 2009, and to exert all possible effort to support and protect Americans’ right to paid vacation time.
